@iszty88: Anatoly Fedorenko (Анатолий Федоренко)(? - 1978) was a 2nd-year Soviet military cadet who carried out a mass shooting at the Higher Political School of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the USSR in Leningrad on 19 May 1977. During the night, while serving as an armed guard, Fedorenko obtained a Kalashnikov assault rifle, reportedly under the pretext of cleaning it, and opened fire inside the guardhouse. He killed 6 servicemen, including guard commander Senior Sergeant A. Zubenko and 5 fellow cadets, and wounded 2 others. One of the wounded cadets, Sergey Mostakov, despite suffering multiple gunshot wounds, obtained another rifle and shot Fedorenko, preventing him from accessing additional ammunition and reportedly stopping a planned continuation of the attack against other servicemen. Mostakov died from his wounds on 23 May 1977. Fedorenko was arrested, subsequently sentenced to death, and executed in 1978. Soviet authorities initially concealed the incident from the public and reportedly described it as an attempted attack on the guard by unidentified bandits seeking to seize its weapons.
