The former girlfriend of an Ohio man accused of murdering his wife cried on the witness stand today as she read aloud a message she wrote saying she wanted to kill the woman. Alleigha Botner testified for about five hours today (Thursday, September 24) as a prosecution witness against Caleb Flynn. Flynn called 911 at 2:30 a.m. on Sept. 16, 2026, and said an intruder killed his wife, Ashley Flynn, and fled their home in Tipp City. Prosecutors allege he fatally shot her as she slept then lied about an intruder. Investigators never found the gun that killed her. Botner has not been charged with a crime. Her direct-examination consisted mostly of her reading aloud messages between her and Flynn, including one that prompted her to cry and say,

You would rather have your connection to Will. Thank you seriously for breaking my heart and shattering my dreams." She told him the next day: "Caleb. Let's just face it. You don't want to give up your girls full time. You're going to punish me for it forever, and you choose her and a life with her. Please don't leave me on any longer. You know why I had so many questions tonight. You know why I'm extra in my head and have all these questions and doubts." Flynn, 40, is a former pastor who was an "American Idol" contestant in 2013.
