I feel a lot of resistance talking about my sobriety… but it’s one of the number one things I’m asked about. So here we go. People ask me how I quit drinking, and the truth is… I just kept trying. I’ve always known alcohol and I didn’t mix. My dad struggled with alcoholism and he always told me it ran in our family. And he was right. I started drinking at 13 — Zimas and Strawberry Hill and I never had an off switch. I’m not a “just have one” girl. I’m pedal to the metal or nothing at all. For a long time, I thought that meant something was wrong with me. Now I know it’s my superpower when I aim it in the right direction. But back then? Alcohol made me hate myself. The shame was heavy. The anxiety was constant. I felt like I was living with a version of myself I didn’t recognize and didn’t like. I quit for the first time in 2019 (outside of pregnancy). I was shocked how fast I mentally and physically transformed. But I relapsed… and I relapsed hard. I tried moderation but within a few months I had to accept that I cannot moderate. So in 2023, I quit again. No program. No groups. I isolated. I treated myself like someone very ill who needed deep rest. I became a hermit for a year. I rebuilt myself quietly and slowly. And I came back different. If you are in that place where you can’t stand who you are when you drink… you’re not weak. Your body is telling you the truth. Your soul wants you back. Your real glow starts when you stop abandoning yourself. 🤍 If you have questions about my sobriety journey, drop them below — I’m open to talking about it. #sober #alcoholfree #sobercurious #quitdrinking #GlowUp #sober
