Swim inside the buoys and touch nothing, it erodes. 📍 Stefanos crater, Nisyros, Dodecanese. Steps down to the crater floor, 5 euros. Stay a night in Mandraki and go early, before the day-trip boats from Kos arrive. 📍 Antia, Evia. The whistled language is called sfyria. Only a handful of whistlers are left, so ask in the village. 📍 Spinalonga, Crete. Ten minute boat from Plaka, or about 30 minutes from Elounda. It was a Venetian fortress before it was a leper colony. 📍 Ikaria, eastern Aegean. Six to eight hours by ferry from Piraeus, or about an hour's flight from Athens.
