It took me taking a masters to learn that was long argued against, especially by Olinor Ostrom, a highly knowledgeable economist in that field especially because of her field work regarding the study of common resources. And yet, Hardin is still highly cited when talking about common goods. Carney using Hardin over Ostrom was not an accident. People at his level know of her work and her suggestions
