I understand that this is an incentive to get the market moving, but to me it just seems to put problems off into the future. Also if house prices rise, the loan could get very expensive, I don't like the idea of paying mortgage plus interest on that as your signing up to a complete unknown - who knows what the rates will be in 5 years. Another element is that builders simply are not building new houses at the moment, or it's at a snails pace. Too much market uncertainty, high materials cost, lack of skilled trades...great idea but won't benefit anyone if no new houses are being built.

if you look at the stats of having a mortgage, it doesn't make sense anyways. loose your job and the bank going to take that house and you're back to square one.
