this is almost correct. in the cables there are 3 wires ..... a black, white and ground. to the first switch only that wire that has those 3 wires goes to it. it's usually a 12/2 or 14/2. then between the switches there is 4th wire added that's a red wire and it's usually a 12/3 or 14/3 the 3 part of that is what matters tho the 12 or 14 just have to match what the size of the ampacity of the branch circuit. then to the light bulb is another 12/2 or 14/2 same rules as before applying
