@bonaogeto: How much planning is too much planning when building software? Most developers think the fastest way to build is to start coding immediately. I actually think the opposite. If I have 3 weeks to build a product, I could spend the first 2 weeks understanding the problem, defining the requirements, designing the architecture, mapping the user flows, choosing the stack, thinking through edge cases and figuring out exactly what needs to be built. Then I can spend the final week executing with clarity. Because once the thinking is done, implementation becomes much easier. It’s the same principle behind: “Sharpen the axe before you chop the tree.” The goal isn't to plan forever. The goal is to do enough thinking upfront that when you start building, you’re not constantly stopping to figure out what to build next. Good planning doesn't slow down software development. Bad planning does.
