@earnedwellness: Developing the ability to mourn is one of the most important parts of development as loss, separation, frustrations, and breaks up are a part of life. Without this capacity, separation from a partner or a break can feel very destabilizing to the point where someone can feel like they don’t know who they are or develop behaviors that increase their levels of suffering #trauma #cptsd #MentalHealth #depression #traumahealing

It’s also challenging when your partner has the same behavior as a parent did (and still does)- silent treatment, refusal to apologize, unwilling to ever respond or talk about what they did to hurt your feelings, even if it was minor, reversing the situation to make it your fault in some way. I wasn’t understanding why I would panic and literally make myself sick during conflict or break ups with my current partner until I was able to make the connection that this is mirroring my childhood.

What if there is no clear sense of self? after I healed for the most part of my own childhood trauma, I realized that there is a clear difference and gap between my husband and I and he has become severely dysregulated every time I even mention growing apart. his own childhood trauma is surfacing and it has been come apparent that he does not have a clear sense of self

My mother died when I was a teenager and I put her on a pedestal and couldn’t mourn her for at least a decade. Just now in my 40s have I been able to see and understand how much my trauma has affected me and my adult relationships

I saw that piece of art in the playa back in 2015, I’ll never forget it, one of my favorite pieces of art ever, crazy that it’s right behind you. Great video, thank you!

I struggle with cptsd a lot and have a six year old. I try really hard to educate myself and pay a lot of attention to how my trauma is coming out in my parenting, but I know there are things I’m unaware of, and sometimes I’m terrified that I’m still messing up and creating bigger issues for him.
