@kinderwell4: The world won't always be kind to your child. These fifteen rules are worth teaching them before they face challenges on their own. 1. Politeness is for safe situations only. Fear cancels it completely, and a child needs permission to be rude if the moment calls for it. 2. An adult should never ask a child for help—not directions, not a lost pet, not carrying something to a car. If it's happening, that's a warning sign. 3. If a stranger says "your parents sent me," walk away and find a different adult immediately. That sentence alone is the rule. 4. Nobody gets automatic access to a hug. Not a relative, not a family friend. Her body, her answer, every time. 5. Teach her to look for a mom with kids if she's ever lost or scared in public. A woman with kids will stay with her. 6. Teach the difference between a tantrum and an emergency. Screaming alone reads as a meltdown to bystanders; five specific words make people actually look up. 7. If someone tries to pull a child into a car, fighting, running, and screaming are always correct, no matter what's threatened. 8. A real family password matters more than any script. If someone claims to be sent by you and doesn't know it, that's the whole test. 9. Promise that telling the truth about something scary never gets a kid in trouble. That has to be a permanent deal. 10. Online, location matters more than a face in a photo. Teach that early. 11. Secrecy is always the tell, online or off. If an adult says to keep something between you, that's a red flag. 12. Give kids a script for an uncomfortable phone call: "My mom can't come to the phone right now" covers almost everything. 13. Pick one code word that means "come get me," no explanation needed, no matter who's around. 14. If their body says leave, they leave. No justification owed to anyone. 15. Any hour, any situation, any place they weren't supposed to be: always come get them first. Save the conversation for after they're safe. Nobody needs to memorize all fifteen at once. Start with three, like ordinary dinner conversation. Then add the password, then the code word. Kids don't need to be scared into caution; they need to be equipped with it. #ParentingTips #ChildSafety #EquipNotScare #KidsRules #FamilySecurity

Just wanna add that the "safe person" in rule 5 doesn't have to be a mother with kids. Know your community/culture/country and decide what is genuinely a good description of a safe person in your particular situation.

no.2 is not 100%. depends on situations too. i recalled a elderly lady falling off her bike and needing my help to run back to her place for help. i was only 7 back then.

Telling these rules to your children also means telling them that they are living in a society of demons.

I genuinely thought I understood Gen Z until I found Oltri Vitan. Reconnect With Your Gen Z Kid made me realize how much of my son’s world I simply never see.

question, number 8, what if someone has been tracking your kid, or it's a "relative" that happens to know the password, maybe shared by another family member. your kid will automatically think they are a safe person if they say the password

Its crazy how you can live in the same house with your kid and still feel so far apart sometimes. Reconnect With Your Gen Z Kid by Oltri Vitan really helped me understand that gap better. Warm recommendation from one parent to another.
