Everyone is told the pitch bc the fielders can better predict where the ball is gonna be hit when they know what pitch is coming. Like if it’s a changeup, there’s a good chance it’s gonna be rolled over to the third baseman. Another good example is when it’s a curveball so they can be prepared for a pitch in the dirt and stop the runner from trying to advance.

I used to stay with an older couple and the guy had some type of cb radio device police scanner and we could hear all the calls back and forth. Nothing nefarious just cool to hear. That was 40 years ago. New tech, new encryption, but I would still guess someone might hack the codes someday and there will be another scandal. Sorry, but teams need to use body signs and it is on them to mix things up because the opposition is always listening and watching - cat and mouse evolution.

In this situation…do BETTER with your security system and pitch com…I have no pity for teams who use and then MISUSE or it malfunctions…do better…they’re so worried about protecting EVERYTHING that they protect NOTHING

Genuinely why does the first baseman even have a pitch-com? Why would he need to know what pitch is being thrown? I guess for pickoff plays but otherwise it seems pretty risky for this exact reason
