I’m starting my third year placement for BSW at Big Brothers Big Sisters. I recommend anyone who is starting SW to get involved with the organization. The most hands on you’ll get in your degree! And assist in research!!!!!!

what would you say to someone who is interested in the field, but does not have a car? i do not have a car on campus where i’m studying and i’m nervous because there are lots of internship hours, i live in a rural area where i can’t walk and there is no public transportation

I have been a social Worker for 30 years. Went to University of Kansas for my graduate degree. They really get you ready for the field of social work. I worked in the field before I went to get my masters. I am glad I did that as it really helped me in my career.

I am doing my generalist placement right now and I’m interning at a Pre-K enrollment office. I get to go around the county and visit my supervisor’s assigned preschool classrooms, home visits, and help with office work. I like it a lot so far, but I do want to experience with adults at least one point. I’ve always wanted to work with youth. I never had interest in working with adults, but I have to at least give it a chance. 🫠
