been using matrix for about 3 months now, its not at clean as discord but its fully opensource and getting better. I only talk to a couple of people and ive managed to get some of them on matrix and the rest are considering it.

Sucks none of my friends are communities will move to alternative. Discord is just too big and people have sunk Money into customizing their accounts. I've spent a total of $5 on Discord, so I don't mind leaving, but none of my friends will, and if they did, they'd abandon it.

I uninstalled Discord when they announced ID verification. Unless its critical to my job search I don't use software/apps that require age verification through photo ID/bio-metrics.

I live in the UK. they're mandating basically everything online to do this now (I have a tumblr for example, my date of birth was already put on my account and I used my Gmail which also has my date of birth. I am an adult. I can't access "mature content" anymore, which includes a LOT of medical advice posts -> unless I submit my ID to a 3rd party. 🙃 literally anyone with sense knew this was a bad idea, and said it was a bad idea. now here we are, on an international level. 🙃🙃🙃)
