love this, and ive been a fan since fearless and it gets worse every album, but Taylor support always comes in waves, we are just heading down from the Eras peak, it will go back up again eventually. Those of us who are true fans just ride the wave and enjoy all the music we are privileged enough to get!

Honestly I dont even think the songs are that simple (except Cleveland! but I do kind of love it for how happy she sounds) but patient zero and babylon are like classic Taylor Swift songs in their narratives and storytelling, and pink clouding is like midnight rain 2.0, it might sound happier but it's not a happy song. Apologising to someone you know you treated badly like a decade later is not an easy feat

I’m someone who’s been a fan from the beginning and literally listened to just TTPD on a loop for approximately 18 months. I think Showgirl IS as good, but in a completely different way. It’s impossible for me to rank albums because they serve different purposes and it completely depends on the mood I’m in. Not saying everyone needs to feel the same and like all of the music equally but it doesn’t mean it’s not good because it’s ‘fun pop’.

I also jump around her music as I listen. I've made a Playlist for myself with all her albums except the songs I am not fond of. If I don't like a song I don't need to tell the world I just don't add it to my Playlist lol

I remember her I hate for fearless because she doesn't write by herself, hate for speak now because it was just about heartache, hate for red because it was too Poppy, hate for 1989 because it was full pop, hate for Rep because it was too dark and too emo, hate for lover because it was too light, hate for folklore nevermore because what is she Alt now? Hate for tortured poets because it's too wordy and too emotional.... literally every time.

And the thing is, she’s writing under so many different traditions! Not in a derivative way, but in a studied way. Maybe someone doesn’t like some of those traditions, and ok! That’s cool. You don’t like when she plays with a sound and structure reminiscent of a jingle or theme song to address the silliness of balancing insecurities rooted in living a life so open to public comment with the celebration that she has found a partner who ignores what people say and loves her as she is? Ok. It’s ok to have a narrower range of traditions you appreciate. Just go listen to the songs that resonate with you that already exist.

Agree - I’m a 58 year old Swiftie of 15 years - I think people just want her to be deep and mature, she’s a 36 year old married woman who wrote folklore and evermore. But like - she writes all kinds of music and we all love Shake it Off and We are Never Ever Getting Back Together - it’s not always deep. Sometimes it’s a bop

Have you watched the Patient Zero music video yet? It's INCREDIBLE. I've seen a lot of people say they didn't like the song until they saw the video, or they didn't understand the song until they saw it.

There are bands I have LOVED since the early 90s that are still going and still making music. Do I love it all? No. There are whole albums I can't / don't listen to by some of my favourite artists. Is that a problem? No. I find the discourse around Taylor SO WEIRD. I love Taylor swift. I love songs on all her albums. I also hate songs on all her albums. That is NORMAL. It doesn't mean she has all of a sudden lost her talent. People are WEIRD

It’s a shame that people can’t grasp that concept. I feel like they take Taylor for granted and I didn’t think Babylon was about her but the meaning fits this situation in the fact that they are always shouting more but never appreciating what they have and one day she won’t be pumping out music and they will miss it. I like it all too 🤷♀️

I am baffled as well. Maybe it how we process music. Like I can love an artist and if I don’t like something they put out, I just move on and catch them with their next album. People are acting like she personally attacked them. I do think some of it has to do with internet snark and the need to want to control an artists creative output.

I get jealous of “late stage swifties” sometimes, cause when I became a swiftie she had only 2 albums both country (I loved them both). But at the same time it was the equivalent of only having RedTV today. When I see people say “I miss sad Taylor” “I want this or that”. I just think, “we have it, go listen to it”
