@quitethetangent: TLDR: please dont let them put you off attending university. Every year is the same thing. Every year we get the same “omg there is classism at Scottish universities.” Fork found in kitchen. Every Scottish student who has attending a Scottish university has been saying this since the dawn of time and by no means am I saying that it is okay or right. All these articles do is further doom, gloom and fear monger. Every year these newspapers and journalist pretend this is the first time anyone’s ever mentioned classism at universities. They never suggest any solutions or provide any support for incoming or present students who are facing these issues. There are lots of societies and support networks available, but we can always improve and make university more welcoming for everybody.
