it’s $6.15 & $6.75 in Central Cali as of today 10/1. Husband just bought me a smaller car because gas is killing us. He drives my Honda now instead of his truck and he got me an Acura which cost less to fill up than my bigger Honda.

People will die this winter. I’m a social worker in very rural SE Indiana. So many of my client’s don’t make enough to pay for hundreds of gallons of diesel fuel, outright… but they make too much to be considered for payment plans. And even if they did get a payment plan, our local fuel companies run your credit for approval first, so most of them would be denied. Our trustees are out of the money they budgeted for their constituents for situations like this. The churches can’t help because they just dried up their surplus on food, water and shelter for the devastating floods last month. Every time I get our food pantry at work stocked I turn around and it’s empty. Never in my 20 years of social work have I experienced so much suffering, all at once. It’s shit storm after shit storm with no relief in sight.
