@afrivision.media: Burkina Faso has officially inaugurated its first national gold refinery, RAFFINOR-BF, in Ouagadougou on September 28, 2026, with President Captain Ibrahim Traoré presiding over the ceremony. Located on a five-hectare site in Ouaga 2000, the refinery has an initial capacity of about 164 tonnes of gold per year and can produce refined gold with purity reaching 99.99%. The complex includes a laboratory, foundry, secure storage facilities and a jewelry unit. The project represents an investment of more than 11 billion CFA francs. According to reports from the inauguration, financing came from the Burkinabè state through the national precious substances company SONASP, alongside private partners. Because of that, the viral claim that the refinery was built entirely “without credit” should be treated carefully unless official financing documents specifically confirm that no borrowing was used.
