I think about this ALL the time. They make themselves “sit in discomfort” to reach this higher plane but it removes the service of that discomfort! Sitting on a hard floor at a temple in silent contemplation to fabricate an environment of discomfort, rather than the organic discomfort of using your body to create, serve and sustain life. Limiting their diets to contrive discipline rather than emptying their plate so their child can eat. Doing 108 rounds of sun salutations on a mountain to feel burning effort in their bodies instead of cleaning, rocking, holding, cooking, and the many other back breaking tasks that global women are tasked with each day. They saw the spiritual richness in these women and tried to recreate it…in isolation, away from the world, and without the actual service, the humility of moving your body to clean shit, cook food, nurse a sick child, lift the body of an aging parent…that’s why it doesn’t kill their ego. It builds them a new one that they worships with every living breath.

I did kinda buy into that narrative that men created male gods because they were jealous that women can create life, but then I realized that is really just bio essentialism and is leading women down the alt right pipeline and making a lot of them transphobes. Also, men create life too, whether we like it or not, it is a two person job.

I’m a labor nurse and I say my job is lowkey so spiritual. Especially a first time mom. I meet them and before they leave they will be a totally different woman. It’s the best job ever 😭😭😭😭😭😭😍

I came home with my daughter and I was never the same again. I remember very clearly the expansion of understanding, the splitting of myself into me and another. and I never returned to the self-centered life view I had before. it was a knife stabbed into my heart that remains there roday and that twists when I hear of any injustice, any child hurt, any woman hurt.

This is so real. I am so tired of hearing men talking about their profound “revelations” recently. It seems they’re so proud of these insights and I’m hearing them and thinking that every woman I know already knows all of these insights-we just don’t think or talk about them all the time.
