Lived single in nyc, it was kinda lonely. But my time was entirely my own. I would recommend for every women to prioritize this solitude at some their lives.

My parents....they can not accept my decision. They told me that i'm human waste (for not wanting to start a family and to procreate) and that i will regret it later... They don't care if i'm happy this way, they don't believe me actually.

I diagnosed myself with all sorts of mental health disorders because I didnt wanna leave my relationship or admit it was the cause . Been single for a while and I dont have most of them anymore. No more mood swings and crying fits and insecurities. No more losing focus at work because im wondering what he's upto now.

had a guy yesterday insist on going out even after I told him I dont date bc I hate it and I dont want to be involved with anyone. he tried to then say that "just because we go on one date doesnt mean we're dating." like huh?! he couldn't fathom why I wasnt willing to agree to even a "not date," but why would I waste either of our time with something like that? they want us to compromise so badly. I finally told him i saw how stubborn he was bc he wouldn't accept it and that 2 hours is a long way to drive for a "not date." why cant they just accept that its not what we want? and they'll call the compromise "just being friends or a 'not date'" but then be angry when you dont make time. when part of the reason I dont date is bc i dont want to arrange my schedule for someone else or give my time to anyone who doesnt even understand how valuable my time is.

So interesting to me that a woman minding her business and bothering no one can be the villain simply by being single or child free. Just amazes me because the weaponised argument is that ‘you’ve got no one to take care of you in your old age’ well firstly there’s no guarantee that anyone’s going to reach old age and secondly there’s no guarantee your children are going to take care of you. If you’re having children just to have future carers that’s not healthy.

I just laugh when they criticize me being single and say I’m not happy. I’m the happiest I have ever been and don’t need validation from anyone for that.

I’m cracking up at “penis owners” 🥴😂😂😂 but I needed to hear this. Growing up Christian, I felt like wife and mother were the only futures anyone encouraged women to imagine. I’m more spiritual now, having deconstructed a lot of those beliefs, but I used to see being single as this sad little waiting room for “real” adulthood or womanhood—as if my life couldn’t fully begin until someone chose me. Now I’m realizing how freeing it is to build a life on my own terms. Being single is a valid, fulfilling way to live. I don’t have to treat this chapter like a holding pattern.
