That's really fucked to require that for graduation cause not everyone is going to college. And not everyone should. It's not for everyone and that's fine. You shouldn't have to opt out of that.

Call me crazy but this seems like a pretty sensible requirement. Some people inevitably assume they can’t afford to go to college because they’re uninformed or misinformed about opportunities for aid and this ensures that happens to fewer people.

I feel like this is over reach. Thanks for letting me know there is an opt-out form. In a state tracking and if we aren't asking for money.. my money is none of their business.

In New Jersey you either have to do a fafsa application or sign an opt out waiver. You don’t actually have to apply for fafsa

I thought FAFSA was only needed when going to college and needing financial assistance to get into said college what if a kid doesn't plan on going to college any time soon if at all seems like a waste of time if you aren't planning on needing it

FAFSA is primarily for need based financial aid. Merit scholarships are generally based on things like grades, class rank, test scores, and achievements, not financial need.

A lot of students may not realize how much they could benefit from fafsa so this is great! I say this as someone who applies every year and I have never received a dollar (except for scholarships but that’s different).
