As a pharm tech, I help people every day who whine about colonoscopy prep. Some will see the gavilyte and straight up say, “I’m not doing that.” I want to say, it’s a necessary evil, but you absolutely don’t have to do it, it’s your choice. But at the same time I wonder how people have made it that far in life with that attitude. Some things are necessary to endure, despite however uncomfortable they may be, and thats just a part of life. I would never think to complain or refuse to do it. Especially as a woman! We have to undergo so many unpleasant things as a part of routine healthcare and I will continue to do it regardless because it’s what’s necessary.

“Don’t lay me flat” while trying to clean POOP off her and I said “I’m not going to hurt my back for you” and she said “I’m not asking you too”. Like YES you are you’re heavy and I have to turn you in this awkward position. They genuinely don’t care.

Agree. We do invasive procedures and deliver uncomfortable/ life changing news, diagnosis and etc. Wait times (especially during busy seasons, short staffing) add to that discomfort. Respect and compassion is paramount.

I do think people need to tough things out however I will say for health care professionals this is every day, routine. For the patient these things are new and scary and they’re the ones actually experiencing the pain. Sometimes healthcare workers attitudes feel dehumanizing and also just rude tbh.

Boy if I had a nickel for every time I went into a patients room and they acted like I barged into their living room and interrupted them. They don’t want to be monitored, they don’t want to work with PT/OT/speech, they don’t want to go down for a test because they’re tired, etc. WHY ARE YOU HERE THEN????!

I’m a phlebotomist and soo many people complain about the tourniquet and I know it’s super tight but that’s literally the point and it’s usually only on for like 60 seconds
