in my last role we had an admin assistant who changed her email signature to say assistant manager when she emailed customers and had a plaque made for her desk that she put out when the manager was away. we found out when a customer asked a question with her email in it. I sent an email congratulating her on the promotion with management on it and she cried and her husband came in threatening to fight everyone

had a team lead like this who eventually started CCing our manager, then eventually his manager when nothing happened to me. he was eventually let go from his role as a team lead and moved to a junior role in another dept. now he has one manager, no coworkers, and nobody to bother.
