@konah619: Michael Packard was diving for lobster off Provincetown, Massachusetts, on June 11, 2021, when everything suddenly went dark. At around 14 meters below the surface, the 56-year-old diver was unexpectedly engulfed by a humpback whale. At first, Packard thought he had been grabbed by a shark, but then he realized something was different—there were no teeth. Still wearing his breathing gear, he remained inside the whale’s mouth for an estimated 30–40 seconds before the whale surfaced and expelled him. His crewmate pulled him to safety and rushed him to the hospital. Amazingly, Packard suffered bruising but no broken bones. The incident was believed to have been an accidental encounter while the whale was feeding. For roughly half a minute, Packard found himself inside one of the ocean’s largest animals—and somehow lived to tell the story. 🐋
