The Ö is basically pronounced like "turn" or even better: the first e in "perfect". Maybe it can make the "födelsedag" or "köttbullar" easier! 🫶🏼

Focus less on how things are spelled and try to memorise how they *sound*. You're still seeing the "ö" as an "o", and your brain naturally tries to pronounce it as a normal "o". Try to think of it as not an "o" at all, but its own unique letter that sounds like the first vowel in "mermaid" or "turn".

I read a comment once that a girl learned how to talk Swedish by watching Linn Ahlborgs YouTube. Maybe you could have her videos on in the background or just watch them to hear her speak. Watching her videos is like hanging out with a friend🥰

Watch Swedish tv shows so you get to recognize how they sound. Keep the subtitles English so you know what they are talking about aswell 😂

I started listening to audiobooks in 0.5 speed in Swedish just to hear how their flow is. After that learning it like an elementary student learning to read/write it.

As Swede I agree with you, sometimes the spelling and sound just doesn’t match, actually a lot of the times. I don’t really have any good advice, except to keep practicing, you’re doing great! Especially when you say sjuk and köttbulle! On a different note, what translation app do you use and why does she sound so irritated when she says födelsedag? Like, you’re trying your best and she’s giving you attitude 🙄🤣

Childrens books in swedish is a great practice. Then I just think you need to listen and talk a lot! Ask Maggy to just speak swedish with you from time to time ☺️

You're doing great, honestly! The easiest way to learn is usually pop culture immersion, so listening to songs in Swedish and watching Swedish shows can really help with subconsciously picking up pronunciation. SVT has news in simplified Swedish that you can also check out. You got this! 💪
