@pennies_to_dollars: Your pantry should not always look the same. Yes there should be staples, but you should be evaluating what you are stocking and whether or not you are actually using those items on repeat. #penniestodollars #foryoupage #moneysavingtips #frugalliving #food
I actually shop more often to save money right now. I only buy what I need for a few meals at a time instead of restocking or stocking up. When I filled my pantry before, things would often be left open or expire before it was used up. The way I shop now, I take inventory first, then shop only for what I need to make those meals. I should note that we are now empty nesters, so I only make what I need.

well, I'm from Minnesota and instead of working three jobs right now I'm only working part-time. I realize going out to eat three times a week, even at $36 for me and a teenager. he goes out to over $4,000 a year which is stupid so it's very hard to come on. please ever but hey that's a lot of money to save grocery store twice a week. we spend about $140 a week. we you leftovers stuff like that but everything is extremely and expensive and we only for meat like actually hamburger three times a week and chicken breast twice a week or vice versav and if we go to a really nice restaurant you know once a month. so you're looking over fine Grand a year. just not going out to eat. I don't know how people do it with like four or five kids. it's very hard to get used to but why kill myself and several other jobs just to put somebody else's pocket. besides, the food usually tastes better when I cook it

I shop 3x a month. But I only shop sale items. Last Thursday our local family owned market had a “One Day Meat Sale” (it happens twice a year) I spent $375 on meat. Took me two days to process and freeze all of it but it’s done and I won’t need meat for several months. I also came upon a pasta sale and bought lots of pasta for half price, I know pasta isn’t a big ticket item but I love a good pasta hoard.

We average around $575 a month for groceries for two of us. I’ve been trying really hard lately to reduce our spending and it’s worked some but problem is hubby loves to shop at Costco and you know you just can’t come out of Costco without spending 100 bucks and we shop there a couple times a month.
