Everyone in Germany knows her. That TV show you mentioned - she talked about SexEd and showed how she masturbates. It was... something back then 😂 I didn't know about her involvement in this transphobic crap, I'm sorry to hear that. Oh, and she has stunning daughter, Cosma Shiva Hagen, an actress herself.

Her first big hit (du hast den Farbfilm vergessen) is actually about domestic violence which was still very Common back then.

The whole backstory is so much deeper and so insane. Her stepfather literally got evicted from the GDR and that's why she left, also Farbfilm is still pretty well known and Angela Merkel's favorite song

Fun fact: Red Hot Chili Peppers „give it away” is about Nina Hagen bc she gifted Anthony kiedis a fancy coat of hers and said “sometimes you gotta give it away”

In the 80s in small town New Zealand, our high school principal asked during school assembly if someone could connect them to Nina Hagen as she had been graffitiing her name all over, and they couldn’t find her on the school records. It was a purely punk moment.
