except Hal didn't klled the manhunter, convenient to John to not mention that he did bc he was the one manipulated by "zoe" and the one that forcibly took the ring from him. Zoe had rhe Town practically held as ransom and Hal was doing his job while even the guardians were working against him bc they couldn't "control him"

It’s sad because this is the version of Hal before Sinestro defected. Sinestro was a father figure and mentor to Hal. After this episode and what a father figure would mean to Hal, the heartbreak of fighting his old mentor must have been truly traumatic and devastating both mentally and physically. A massive battle between stars and now he is all alone and disillusioned.
