@jayfroneman: Volume Profile is useful. The problem is what people claim it tells you. POC, VAH and VAL are real statistics. They tell you where the most trading happened within a specific range. But they don’t tell you who traded there, why they traded there, or what they’re going to do next. That distinction matters. A POC could reflect hedging, liquidation, rebalancing, options flow, or directional trading. The number itself doesn’t tell you which one. So when someone shows one historical example where price reacts perfectly at the POC and then tells you that’s where institutions are buying… that’s where I’d slow down. You’re taking a statistic that describes what already happened and turning it into a prediction of what happens next. A professional desk can absolutely use Volume Profile as context or confluence. But it isn’t a decision engine. The question isn’t, “Did price react here?” Of course it did. You’re showing me the example where it worked. The real question is: “Did this give you a repeatable edge before you knew the outcome?” Because finding a level after the move is easy. Proving it actually had predictive value beforehand is the hard part. Volume tells you where trading happened. It doesn’t automatically tell you why it happened, who was behind it, or what happens next.
