@stvnews: Some 3,000 staff at the University of Edinburgh are starting five weeks of strike action in a dispute over £140 million in cuts and compulsory redundancies. University and College Union (UCU) members at the university were beginning strike action on Monday which will continue until October 30. The strike comes as 90 programmes at the institution are due to close and after officials announced two years ago that £140 million in cuts would be made, alongside compulsory redundancies. The union claims 1,800 jobs will be cut in total but said the university can still curtail industrial action by agreeing to its terms. #Scotland #news #uk #edinburgh
