@sister_jenny_blessed: I’m thinking about not taking the 5-year hormone pill after my lumpectomy and radiation. Do any of you who had Invasive Ductal Carcinoma (IDC) skip this pill and feel great about it? #IDC #hormoneblockers #breastfeedingjourney

I was diagnosed in 2018. I take anastrazol and extended after five years. There are some side effects but I would rather have them any day than have cancer return.

I decided not to take them. I have enough aches and pains. I did have a lumpectomy and did radiation.

I respect your decision, but maybe just try it? I'm almost 4 years in, and really don't have side effects. I think tamoxifen treats me well! I will be taking it for 10 years, and don't plan to stop.

I had invasive lobular and I’m on a 10 year regimen taking anastrozole. I’m going to take it no matter how it makes me feel. I’m scared not to

I refused chemo and those stupid pills. I did the lumpectomy and radiation. I was stage 1 . I took my chances. That was 2013. Praise God.

I took it for 5 weeks and bawled to my onco saying I needed to quit it. It took a mental toll to big to even explain. I was having TERRIBLE thoughts and it literally scared me. I’ve never been more sad and distraught in my life. Coming off of it was the best decision I made.

Diagnosed in 2017. I’m still taking the pill. Simply because this is the only part of this journey I can control. I vowed to do everything in my power to prevent a recurrence. Chemo, radiation, lumpectomy and hysterectomy. 9 years cancer free Oct 30

I have been taking it for two weeks now. I was so afraid but I trust my doctors opinion. She said the benefits outweigh the risks. I haven’t had any major side effects yet!

After 5 years my Ductal Carcinoma returned. Even after a radical mastectomy. No treatment needed. I got implants several times. Shock... cancer found me again. This time in the rt breast! I started an Estrogen Blocker for a few months. I felt so ill. Awful side effects. I dc'd the pills on my own. Another surgery coming then radiation. I don't know what to do. Gamble my life or suffer!?! 💔

Hey there, same as you I did a lumpectomy in 20 rounds of Radiation was supposed to start Exemestane but decided not to (lots of side effects) I know I’m taking my chances, but reoccurrence happens with and without endocrine therapy it is a personal choice weigh your options and do what’s best for you… good luck 🙏🙏🙏

I was told no because it was invasive. The first time I had DCIS it wasn’t invasive and I didn’t take it. 11 years later I got invasive DCIS. I’m now taking the anastrozole. I have a lot of body pains but it is getting better (or I’m just used to the pain).
