NEW DRAMATIC FOOTAGE SHOWS DUMP TRUCK DRIVING WITH BED FULLY RAISED BEFORE SLAMMING INTO H-1 OVERPASS September 4, 2026 — New dramatic footage provides a much closer view of the moments leading up to today’s dump truck incident on H-1 eastbound in the Pearl City/Waimalu area. The footage was recorded from a vehicle traveling behind the dump truck and clearly shows the truck driving down H-1 with its dump bed fully raised as it approaches the overpass. Moments later, the raised bed slams into the overpass and is ripped from the truck. The new angle confirms what could only be seen from a distance in earlier dashcam footage: the truck was traveling with the dump bed already raised before the impact. Photos and videos from the aftermath show the dump bed completely detached and lodged upright against/under the overpass, with debris and material scattered across the roadway. The truck itself reportedly continued farther down H-1 before coming to a stop along the right shoulder. What caused the dump bed to be raised while the truck was traveling remains unknown. I have not yet received official confirmation regarding injuries or the extent of any damage to the overpass. The footage also shows just how dangerous the situation was for motorists traveling nearby. Always give heavy trucks and equipment plenty of space and remain alert for anything unusual on the roadway.
