I personally liked it, and honestly I think it does nothing but add more to the character, as well as creates discussion around mental health, which is always a plus in my book. I love the way they showed why Hal has such a hard time letting the ring go, in parallel to him not wanting to give up the ball. as well as, 'great arm, kid' call back. my only complaint is these episodes need to 1 hr long, I need more content haha. Very excited to see how they end it and if we get a season 2.

I don’t think that’s what the message behind picking up the baseball is. Martin told Hal that he didn’t have to hold on all the time, that allowing yourself to let go isn’t cowardice. But when Hal picks up the baseball after his father’s death. It symbolises the fact that Hal just can’t let things ago and that decades later, he repeats that same message when he refuses to give up the lantern ring.

Ok let’s just be real. Did Tom King probably suggest, write, or have something to do with this change? Yes absolutely. Does that mean it’s bad? No, no I actually think it contributes a lot to the story.

I just hope they don’t skip over Hal’s problems with his family after his dad’s death. Him not being able to speak with his mom, as well as his damaged relationship w his brothers are some of the most interesting and original aspects of his origin.

tom king seems to do better when he's reigned in, like supergirl woman by tomorrow was good and i think it's because he had other people to bounce off, and that's probably what made this also not feel so awful. however when he gets left alone things go to shit (see: wonder woman's last run). he kinda reminds me of steven moffat in that way. great as a writer, iffy as head of a piece of media
