@adamventurez: Here are my top tips I learnt from trekking to Everest Base Camp: 1. Sit on the left on the flight from Kathmandu to Lukla for the best views of the Himilayas 2. Rent or bring your own hiking poles and use them! 3. Get enough cash out to last you the entire trek from Namche onwards 4. Use a water filter and purification tablets. @SawyerProducts is my go to water filter. I’ve used them on many trips now and means that carrying water is never a worry. 5. Don’t eat meat 6. You can hire all the hiking gear you need in Kathmandu so don’t panic buy in the UK beforehand 7. Test pack before the Lukla flight. 11kg for checked luggage, 5kg for backpack. 8. Sleep in a snood to stop you getting a cough 9. Don’t have alcohol on the way up - it affects you more at altitude and you don’t want to be hungover the next day 10. Book a trip that has days either side of the trek to account for delays 11. You don’t have to take altitude tablets if you don’t want to 12. Bring lots of snacks 13. "Don't eat meat after day one" is a bad advice. Trips get exponentially harder on later days and you will need plenty of protein in your diet to be able to do it without getting too tired.
