@stephbruckshaw.official: Three years ago, I hit a point where I knew I couldn’t keep living like that. The stress. The exhaustion. The behavior issues. The unpaid overtime. Feeling like I was giving everything to everyone else while having nothing left for myself or my family. But I also felt trapped. I had degrees. Bills. And I kept telling myself there was “no way out.” So I had a choice: Keep hoping education would magically get easier... or start building something on the side before I completely burned out. Nothing changed until I did. Not my income. Not my situation. Not my mindset. Because I was doing what so many burnt-out teachers do: Overthinking. Waiting to feel ready. Telling myself, “Maybe next year.” Meanwhile... my life stayed exactly the same. So I made a shift. I stopped waiting for certainty and started learning new skills from my phone while I was still teaching. Posting even when it felt awkward. Learning about affiliate marketing and digital products. Figuring it out as I went instead of waiting for the “perfect” plan. And slowly... things started changing. Extra income started coming in. Opportunities showed up. And for the first time, I realized there actually WAS a way out. Because the truth is: If you wait until leaving teaching feels completely safe... you’ll probably stay stuck a lot longer than you want to. At some point, you have to decide: Are you going to keep surviving every school year... or finally start building your exit plan? Comment “START” if you’re ready to stop feeling trapped. #teacherburnout #teachersoftiktok #teacherlife
I love the kids, but the system is broken and I can't keep forcing myself to do things in ways that are developmentally inappropriate for my kinders😭......I feel like I'm helping a broken system every day.

28th year- setting 4 transition age (18-22) Sped teacher- I teach the highest behavior students. I love them dearly, but I’m defeated. Almost daily. My family jokes how summer wife/mom is so fun, productive, has energy, etc. and teacher year wife/mom comes home and collapses. I’ll be 50 in June and if they aren’t willing to work with me on making a change I will find a way to make one. It’s not fair to my family to not get the best me the majority of the time and my body is physically and mentally shot 😞.

I feel your pain! The last three years have been awful for me but this year I changed my attitude and decided I wasn’t going to let someone else steal my joy! Things have completely changed this year for me!

I had a breakdown yesterday with one of my retired teachers because at this point it’s not the kids I can’t take anymore it’s the parents. She reminded me how good I am and to not let it get to me but it’s hard some days 😔

Leaving after ten years was the hardest but best decision. My first year in years not feeling that anxiety.

I left because it literally gave me major health issues. I currently teach ESL online and work for a tutor company that actually teaches during school hours.
