Since I was a teenager I’ve educated myself on cultures around the world and I fell in love with it and I think the more people open themselves up they would to. Let make love not war. ❤️

Some people never get outside their comfort zone- my mother in law moved to the US at 63, she had never been outside the Philippines. She was afraid of everything and everyone. She was weirded out that her son was dating a woman born and raised in the US. It took YEARS for her to be comfortable outside her home and small religious community she found. She was scared. I was new, the country was new, and my culture was new. Don’t feel bad. Your in-laws may love western culture, they may love Hollywood, Las Vegas, Disneyland, etc but it took my in-laws a few years to feel comfortable to explore what they were born into. It takes time.

I love my African net sponge and what the black culture has taught me about the everything shower. I love Korean skincare and beauty products. And don’t get me started on my repertoire of food I love that isn’t American southern. The Pacific Islands holy moly so much I adore about them. I can appreciate all the beauty that comes in all shapes, sizes and colors of other cultures. I could go on what I love about everything I didn’t grow up knowing about other cultures and people.

I’m from Vancouver and I always think about how racist people are…not realizing where the things they use DAILY originate from (especially take out food) it’s such a rich and beautiful place filled with many different languages, foods & cultures…I miss the inclusion and curiosity of one another rather than the blatant bigotry now a days..not to mention not so far back in many of our lineage our families were immigrants to Canada yet so many think they have the right to decide who comes and goes when it’s not even their land to begin with
