@zenni: When was your last eye exam? 👀 Here’s how often you should actually be seeing the eye doctor 👓 #education #healthtip #glasses #eyehealth #prescriptionglasses
Why am I required to have an eye exam every year in order to be able to buy contacts then

I haven't been tested since I was a tween. my mom took both my brother and I to get tested at the same time and he got glasses and was told mine was 20/20. but I was also told they'd likely degenerate to the point I'd need them eventually, as my dad has severely bad eyesight needing thick glasses since he was 5. my mom got hers around her early 30s so sometime between now and my 30s I'll need them. and in starting to think it's approaching in the next few years, as I've developed an astigmatism a few years ago and it's getting harder to differentiate details of the leaves on far away trees that I used to be able to differentiate when I was younger. I don't think the glasses are necessary quite yet, but definitely soon. im in my mid 20s rn

Then why doesn’t Medicare cover annual visits for minors? Ours only covers every 2 years.

Routine check ups can range anywhere from 6 months to 2 yrs depending on ur health and eye conditions , for adults i think yearly is more standard

I avoided it as long as I could. Hit my late 30s and I'm now an annual patient

I go every year because I am in remission of IIH and have chronic migraines who has to take topamax and apparently eye doctors HATE that drug :) i used to go every two months when i was diagnosed with IIH. i was never told two years 😭

I go every year because my prescription has changed a ton every year so thats what my dr recommends. and my kid goes yearly. my husband has keratoconus so they wanted to make sure they can see any changes in my kid if they can so he goes yearly starting at 4. so far he has a slight astigmatism but dont need correction yet.

My optometrist only gives me a one year prescription because of a family history of both glaucoma and wet macular degeneration. I get tested for both every year. One of these days I won’t like the results.

my eye doctor just started nagging me and I was like I don't want glasses and they never said it's because I turned 66. Why don't they just say so? Thanks doc.
