@emma.bennett687: These are the AI-powered apps I keep on my home screen. Not demos. Not ones I tried once and forgot about. The ones I open every single day. Lifestack uses AI to plan your day around your actual energy levels so your calendar reflects how you feel and not just what time it is. Motion auto-schedules every task and rebuilds your day automatically when something new gets added or a meeting moves. Reclaim protects your focus blocks and personal habits so meetings and tasks do not eat each other alive. Sunsama walks you through a calm daily planning ritual each morning before your day begins. Structured gives you a clean visual timeline of everything you need to do so nothing gets lost. These replaced a pile of separate apps and made my planning feel a lot quieter. What do you think about this?

Advertising has completely hijacked the phrase 'invest in yourself' and I think it's doing real damage to the way people are handling their money.

We hear it all day everyday: Invest in your skin. Invest in your style. Invest in your energy. What this language is trying to do is retrain your brain to believe that spending money on something will create ‘higher returns’ in the future by raising your perceived social status.

It’s implying that making the purchase will yield the same result as investing. It won’t.

Investing means your money is earning more money. You put a dollar in and over time, you get more than a dollar back. It gives you greater financial options, autonomy over your time, and eventually the ability to stop trading hours for income one day.

Buying a product (even a beautiful, well-made product you genuinely love) is not that. It's spending. And spending is fine (buy the coat, take the workout classes, enjoy the money you worked for). But let's call it what it is.

The reason this matters: the words we use shape how we think. When you call a purchase an 'investment,' you give yourself permission to spend without examining why you’re spending. Will this purchase bring your closer to your goals (like a real investment would), or will it take you further away from your goals (as many purchases do).

REAL ‘investing in yourself’ is when you open your TFSA, transfer money in, and buy assets that grow and earn you more money over time.

 Everything else is shopping.
