@kurnal_vidal: Remembering Jeff “Mighty Pelay” Elva 🇱🇨 — a man whose contribution to Saint Lucia went far beyond the calypso stage. Pelay authored Saint Lucia’s National Pledge, was a multiple Calypso Monarch and Saint Lucia’s first Soca Monarch. He was awarded the Les Pitons Medal and the Belgrave Medal for lifetime achievement in calypso, and was inducted into the Saint Lucia Music Hall of Fame. His music also became part of the sound of a Saint Lucian Christmas, with his 1977 album Merry Christmas Our Way From Mighty Pelay giving us songs that generations of Saint Lucians still recognize today. 🎶🇱🇨 A remarkable contribution to our music, our culture and our national identity.
