@noahs.ark.scans: What does collecting soil samples at Durupınar actually look like? It’s a lot more hands-on than you might expect. The team is collecting samples in 50-centimeter sections, carefully opening each layer and documenting exactly what they find. As they go deeper, the material becomes increasingly compacted. At around 1.5–2 meters below the surface, you can see small rocks mixed throughout the soil. The working theory is that this material may represent layers that covered the formation over time, but that’s exactly what the laboratory testing is for. The samples will be analyzed for organic material and other indicators that could help us better understand the history of the site. Every layer tells part of the story. Now we’re finding out what this one has to say. #noahsark #archaeology #discovery #christiantiktok #soil
