They can never make me hate that man. My freshman year was his first year as coach. I was in the marching band and he always came to our camp the week before school to praise us and tell us how much we meant to the program. No one cares more about his players than him.

I had to laugh when he was like “we’ve never done this before!” and I flashed back to the 2005 Capital One Bowl when there was 9 seconds left on the clock and Tate threw a pass to Holloway and they scored on the last play of the game to win it 😂💀

When he came to our school to recruit one of my classmates I turned the corner into an empty hallway and it was just him and his assistant. I had no clue he was going to be there so I just said, "Holy shit, Kirk Ferentz!" He just laughed and said, "That's me!" and then shook my hand and proceeded talk to me for a couple of minutes and ask me about myself and my family. He's such a nice dude. To me, he IS Iowa football.
