My daughter had hyperemesis gravidarum almost 12 years ago with her first and only pregnancy. Emphasis on only pregnancy. She never wanted to go through that again and had her tubes tied to prevent any possibility of that happening again.

I don’t want my fiancé to suffer. She has been through enough chronic and debilitating pain in her life. I just want her to be happy. We are on the same page and if we are wealthy and retired, we would be so happy to keep foster kids and help them through their therapy and trauma. We have specific needs and goals and we both will know if we can’t be the best parents- because we couldn’t be truly good parents right now! We both know too many babies and children need a safe place to heal.

My mom had preeclampsia and gallstones while pregnant with me. My grandmother had HGE too and still talks about how sick it made her 65 years later. She also talks about how getting a hysterectomy was the best thing ever. Endo and PCOS. Not having kids. Finally got grandmas blessing to get a hysterectomy but still gets asked for great grandkids. My brother’s friend had HG during her pregnancy and she never put on weight, she consistently lost weight the whole time. It was terrible. Thank god her and the baby are okay.

Let’s also remember that there’s this thing in society where giving birth without epidural is like a badge of honor. So even in a world where epidural now exists women are being gaslit to not use it. I remember my cousin praising his wife for choosing not to take any epidural.
