@notesbynathan: A battle of the credit cards. 💳 Which one do you think makes the most sense? Right now, I’m leaning towards the Amex Gold, but would love to hear your thoughts 🫡 #creditcard #spending #money #PersonalFinance #moneytok

AMEX GOLD for sure. I have the trifecta - CSR, Venture X and Amex Gold. You get a nice array of transfer partners and perks are easy to use. I easily make the annual fee back

Here's the thing. You already have the VX/Savor, and you're already doubling up with those Chase offerings. Your spend will logically struggle to hit quota for the proper 3.25x back (fuck the 3.33x Bilt cash preachers, they're all earning their stupid prizes by learning real quick how the yearly expiration will wreck your benefit). Honestly? Go with the Blue for your mortgage, and if you can truly justify the Amex Gold over the Savor, then go for it. You're already covered with a damn good catchall (VX).

I love my Amex gold and also don’t love dunkin. I buy a $7 gift card every month in the app (it counts!) and then I’ll buy donuts for some unhoused people at an area near me every other month or so. If I worked in an office I’d take office donuts!

I got the Bilt Palladium this year, and it’s honestly so amazing! As someone who really likes to points max the card has been amazing!! it has become my number one catch all card. Also with the Chase Sapphire preferred, losing its 1 to 1 transfer to Hyatt, this card has even become more powerful. You honestly can’t beat the transfer partners of Bilt!

Bilt 2.0 was made to be an all in one. In order to actually get your rent points as they advertised you must SPEND even more money to “unlock”. If you want 1.25x on a 3000 dollar mortgage. You MUST spend an additional 3000 dollars on everyday purchases. A 6000 dollar total for the full advertised redemption. Even with Bilt cash option you still must the spend the equivalent of 1x of your rent/mortgage. It’s incredibly misleading cause you’re technically still paying for your “points” not just getting them on rent like they used to before 2.0 where you just had to make 5 purchases. Take this into consideration

Get the Palladium and then the Gold. It just makes a lot of sense to start earning on your mortgage asap. Palladium will essentially replace your VX, but with better lounge access and superior transfer partners. Depends slightly on your travel plans as well, but BILT transferring to Southwest could be advantageous in Chicago specifically

Bilt since you have mostly Chase cards. Lots of good overlap between chase and Bilt. Plus you’ll get Atmos and JAL. I’m about to cancel my Amex Gold because you don’t get 4x at Walmart or Sam’s Club and Costco don’t take it. Plus chase already earns 3x on dining and you can get 3x at Kroger using Kroger pay and similar stores that offer similar ways to pay.

Amex gold!!!! I have earned 70k points in one year using it. I use almost all the credits, and even if you don’t like Dunkin, you can make it a gift card and do something for the community or office with it! The Bilt card is one I don’t have, but lots of people love. There is complexity with earning Bilt cash and your status with Bilt would determine how many points you get back for your mortgage, so it’s all pros and cons for sure!

Amex gold! I have a similar make up of cards with chase and C1 and love the Amex gold for everything food related. It’s a card I transfer a ton of points to partners but rack them back up quickly with constant spend on food. I’ve heard some uneasy experiences paying rent/mortgages thru bilt so I deferred it. (Also buying any type of gift card at grocery stores is a great hack to a large amount of points on the gold card)

The only thing with the bilt is that you have to spend whatever u spend on rent/mortgage in everyday purchases as well 1-1 to get the full benefits. The gold is amazing cause you get your max rewards plus an in to the Amex world and eventually get the platinum as well

AMEX gold! The bilt card is a good idea but I believe they’ve changed it to where you have to spend the rent equivalent or close to it to get the full point multiplier.

Bilt Palladium only really works if you have it be your main workhorse credit card. The best way to maximize the card itself is to use it for everything. Not sure how I feel about that

There is a 120 credit for both Walgreens and Lyft that you forgot for the Palladium card

The new Bilt is mess — you have to spend A LOT to get the full point earn on housing. Stick with Amex Gold and then layer on a Platinum when you feel up to it.

Both! If you have a trip in the near future and need the Amex SUB, Amex first. If not, BILT first to start earning on your mortgage.

Go with Amex. Especially for the customer service. Bilts customer service is terrible.

You’d get 10,400 BILT a month with Palladium. The correct answer is both but probably Palladium first.
