@ascaramucci: We have no hereditary memory of fascism. In Britain you go to the Churchill War Rooms or bombed out areas of London. In France you go to Normandy and in Poland you go to Auschwitz. The scourge of Nazism is in the veins of those countries. It lives in their schools, their field trips, their national consciousness. We had a Nazi movement here too, America First in the late 1930s. Charles Lindbergh led it, there was even a Nazi rally at Madison Square Garden. Franklin Roosevelt banded together with people who had strength and courage and put that movement down. We don't have that now. We have jellyfish. Republican politicians put their personal power, their personal needs, their self-aggrandizement ahead of the American public. Many of us were also visited at school by holocaust survivors. I remember as a teen in the 90’s having a survivor from one of the camps come in and tell us his story. It sticks with you.
