@erikajordanmft: I had a few requests for the history.. #History #tipping #psychology #sociology #ButWhy

Usha Raand :

Don't tip at all. Make companies pay decent wages to the workers.

Slightly Perfect :

I always thought tipping would not really be an issue in this modern subscription-service era, but I have been quite surprised at the backlash to tipping (on both sides actually).

MadBob :

In the Netherlands we tip to express appreciation to the server even when they get a decent living wage. It shows theyvwent above and beyond.

Jimpalplays :

that's so wild. I had to Google that one. I didn't believe it but she's spot on.

ghostrider :

im tired of the company's charging tip on top of taxes.

Charlie :

Nobody tips me. I’m not tipping.

sage :

I feel guilt when I don't tip, and anger when I do tip cause the person i tip is only getting a small portion of it and the government taxes me on the tip and is added to the final bill

user580807833482 :

Yeah, I wish more. People actually saw that you can explain it to him. They still just don’t get it.

kenrobley :

Exactly. You summed up the problem with the tipping system better than I could. What we now treat as normal is a system that shifts responsibility from employers onto workers and customers. It’s worth questioning why we’ve accepted it for so long.

Ben1arch :

There's a Humphrey Bogart movie that takes place during the depression and the sign behind the bar says...Tipping is unAmerican...keep your change.

Mark M. :

How can you be so right so often with such good explanations??!! I don’t care. Keep doing what you’re doing, please.❤️🌅

Seth_flint :

straight facts

thunderhead5866 :

people should start demanding a liveable wage or not work for them most people don't carry cash and sont tip, therefore restaurant is charging automatic gratuity I get up and walk out of them.

Jayallday :

Facts

user4102855828115 :

MolyRoss :

🥰

B B Jaws :

brilliant ❤️

ProfessorMonkeyBusiness :

I cook at home. I'm not tipped. Don't like going out. Rarely do. It's usually underwhelming. And bigly expensive.

MikeHughJass :

When we have pizza delivered we tip $0 on the app and tip the driver directly. We discovered that management was keeping some, in theory, for other employees.

Roberto Olson :

ban tipping!

Manuel Caeiro :

allo beatifull always happy to see you ,you a very wise sweetheart 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍

Doublemint :

As a Brit when asked for a tip I reply "never look directly into the sun "

Mika :

And now they’re trying to do it at every counter you go to. And they count on your guilt cause they’re not paying their employee enough and so you feel like you have to as so to not cheat the server.

Hellish Torment_official :

People in every state need to create a petition to get a bill pushed into law that will end tipping culture.
