John the Baptist is in the line of Zechariah, who was a priest. According to the custom of priesthood, you must be cleansed with water before you can become a priest. It says in Hebrews 5:10, that Jesus “… was designated by God to be high priest in the order of Melchizedek.” Jesus needed to be cleansed with water in order to fulfill the role of high priest. 👏 He was then anointed by Holy Spirit and was the sinless sacrifice, fulfilling the once-and-for-all atonement for human sins 🙌

John the Baptist says he is preparing the way, he is the dirt crew in front of The King. I want to be part of the dirt crew in front of THE KING.
