The United Nations (UN) on Tuesday (Sep 29) called on Malaysia to stop repatriating Myanmar nationals, stressing that conditions do not permit safe, dignified returns. Malaysia had on Tuesday begun sending back around 1,500 Myanmar nationals — most believed to be Rohingya refugees — in the first phase of a repatriation programme that could see as many as 5,000 people returned.
