HERE WE GO AGAIN with the outrage over a bill that apparently needs to be read before being attacked. A3496 does NOT require 30% of state contracts to go to women and minority-owned businesses. It calls for a GOOD-FAITH EFFORT to increase the awarding of certain contracts by 30% over FIVE YEARS. That is a very different thing from a 30% quota. The bill also explicitly requires the guidelines to comply with state and federal law. And the 30-day reports aren't 30-day quotas. Agencies are reporting on what they actually did and the impact of those efforts. The Treasurer reports to the Legislature every six months. As for the disparity study, that's not some liberal talking point. New Jersey's statewide study found disparities in the awarding of public contracts to minority- and women-owned businesses. The study examined five years of state procurement data. You can disagree with the policy. That's perfectly legitimate. But calling it a guaranteed lawsuit because someone typed Equal Protection Clause in all caps doesn't make it one. Read the bill. Then argue with what it actually says.

I thought we were done with D.E.I grants. It is clear minority grants given have zero productivity for tax payers. Why is it a minority bill? Completely racist.
