10 yrs ago, I was pulled out of middle school and admitted to intensive outpatient for anorexia at 13. So deep in it I didn’t even know how bad things had gotten. I started caring about my looks, overexercising, watching what I ate, and it spiraled fast, pushed away people I loved fought with everyone. scared of food & of gaining weight. In HS I gained all the weight back and more. I ate carelessly, barely worked out unless for sports. I wouldn’t say I was “in recovery” just disconnected. I graduated HS during covid and I realized I didn’t feel good in my body, felt unhealthy, wanted a change. I started walking everyday, doing Chloe Ting workouts, eating better, lifted weights. I felt like I was doing something right. College I relapsed w/ bulimia stuck in the worst cycle. Overtraining, eating less, binging, purging, exhausted and Isolated. I realized this couldn’t be MY life. I started therapy got a coach who taught me about macros. i didn’t think tracking would ever help. For most w/ E3 it’s a trigger. For me, in this phase of life, it helped. It gave me structure w/o punishment. It helped me rebuild my relationship with food in a way I didn’t think possible. I don’t plan on tracking forever but right now, it’s taming a bigger beast that doesn’t hurt me or those around me. I learned to love my body for what it does, not just what it looks like. I’ve learned food isn’t just calories, it’s nourishment. 1 bite tastes the same as the whole thing. This shadow (E3) may never fully go away, but it doesn’t control me anymore. There’s so much I could say, but the biggest thing I’ve learned is we are so much more capable than we realize. We’re resilient as hell and able to overcome more than we think. You can restart and change direction at anytime. To anyone going through it I see you, it gets better. You’re not alone. I know what it feels like to count every calorie, bruise your back doing situps, binge every night, to not want to recover. We owe it to ourselves to make the most out of this BIG beautiful life. To be happy, to love & accept ourselves My recovery journey hasn’t been perfect, not close, but it’s been 10 yrs & I’m SO proud. 🤍 #recovery #edrecovery
