The one thing I feel we lack now in film is visionaries. I feel modern film has been about trends and popularity and I find execs and to a degree fans aren’t seeing beyond that. Or it’s rare. Feel a lot of those filmmakers who came out of the 70s were about talent and someone giving them a chance. Even audiences giving them a chance. Which I feel is rare today

Also the new Star Wars is so shallow. Learning that Lucas was making a commentary on Vietnam makes the original trilogy that much deeper. The only contribution that comes close in the Disney world is Tony Gilroy’s.

Yeah but Taika Waititi basically did that with JoJo Rabbit and then Marvel Thor Ragnarok. The failure was continuing with Thor Love and Thunder. Sometimes these creators do have. A really unique perspective to bring to an IP

People forget that everyone thought Star Wars was going to bomb, including Lucas himself. I think that was because he was swinging for the fences with passion. He had a vision. Now a corporation is trying to engineer that passion and replacing vision with fan service. I think it's still possible to make great Star Wars movies, but they need to go far into the future beyond the Skywalkers andcreate something new and perhaps ground all of it with Andor's realism.
