It lowkey seems crazy bc you notice that Rose never actually gaf about Greg and still didn’t. For her Steven and Greg were like pets, she didn’t know anything about humans yet wanted one. Her whole “being human is to grow and change” attitude yet left her child with gems and a bum. Not knowing what a baby needs or how Steven would grow up to be. All she cared was that she was making a human. Rose would’ve been an even worse mom if she were alive.

Gregs biggest mistake was assuming Steven wanted the same type of life he wanted. He hated human society as much as Rose hated gem society and thought Steven would be totally happy only identifying as a gem and not wanting a normal structured childhood

THIS is the point that so many Pearl x Rose shippers missed. Yes, Rose did love Pearl, but it could never be to the same degree that Pearl loved her. Pearl loved Rose in an obsessive, unhealthy way, and that is exactly why Rose was drawn to Greg. Unlike everyone else in her life, Greg wasn't afraid to call Rose out on her BS when she was in the wrong. If you have ever been in a situation where you unintentionally surrounded yourself with people who do nothing but agree with you, finding someone who doesn't agree with you 24/7 would understandably be relaxing. It is not wrong to say that if Pearl and Rose had ended up together, they would have had an unhealthy power dynamic

i really like this scene because greg chooses to understand her in a way probably no human ever has before. he can see that she’s an alien on an alien planet. not a human. she’s not from here. her mind doesn’t work the same way other people’s does. she’s from an entirely different culture, different world, different biological origin. she looks human, but she’s not. he realises that what he said about her being a real person was wrong, unhelpful, and not a good thing to say, so he decided that what they needed was to talk. i think that’s very sweet and shows that he made an active effort and choice to understand her in a way that no one could. he didn’t care about her secrets or who she was or what she did. he only cared about who she was in the moment. remember, pearl freaked out at the implication that rose hid one thing from her (a lion), but greg chose to respect her privacy and her history. i think that’s why, in the end, she chose him as a means to her end

greg held rose to human standards at the end of the day- and that was exactly what she needed. she was surrounded by people that were never going to stop idolizing her (because unfortunately, how could they not.), and while yes, greg WAS fascinated by her, he ultimately still treated her with respect and took the time to actually sit and have emotional conversations with her. he made her more human. she was not a "real person", but greg made her feel as close to human as possible. he challenged her emotionally and, that's what made her fall in love with him- the fact that he never deified her.

Maybe men weren't phases in Rose's life, but Rose was a phase in people's lives. I'm pretty sure Greg was the only one ready to talk, sacrifice stuff and REALLY see her as a person. Many people definitely got a crush on her and they left after discovering she wasn't a perfect human—she is not a human.

to think people hate Greg yet he's a human trying to figure out how him and rose will work then becoming a teen parent, losing his partner, and kinda being put down with not taking care of steven because hes human and then later still the same he's a human and still struggling knowing later that his son was royalty to a bunch of alien rock people and he has to be ok with his son doing alot of dangerous things and almost losing the last thing he has left of rose 🌹🥀
